Our Winemaker

Dave Larsen's first exposure to wine was while on vacation in Europe. And what a revelation it was! After a few years of making blackberry wine from fruit on his parents’ property, he graduated to grape wine by joining the Boeing Winemaking club. A trip to the wineries in Napa Valley planted the seed for founding Soos Creek Wine Cellars. The early years were filled with voracious reading on winemaking, attending winemaking classes, talking to other winemakers and constant experimentation to discover the best winemaking techniques. Dave’s reliance on taste in winemaking decisions is based on the belief that you can not make good wine unless you know what good wine tastes like.  Since that trip to Europe, he has been developing his palate and wine memory through events and wine tasting groups that sample the world’s finest wines. Over 28 years of experience in the Boeing Finance department has provided an attention to detail that is invaluable in the pursuit of making world-class wines. His retirement from Boeing in  2004 now allows more time for winemaking, spending time with his family, running marathons, golf, and rock climbing.
